JUST IN: STAKEHOLDERS PROTEST AT JAMB POLICY MEETING SAS MINISTER PEGS ADMISSION AGE AT 18
Participants in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) policy meeting, as well as stakeholders, are demonstrating against the announcement made by Prof. Tahir Mamman, the Minister of Education, that only applicants who have reached the age of eighteen will be admitted to higher education institutions in the nation going forward.
Attendees openly protested Mamman’s statement, restating his previous stance that applicants under the age of eighteen were to blame for difficulties in the country’s institutions.
Everyone in the auditorium of the Body of Benchers in Abuja started yelling “No, no, no” in loud protest as soon as the minister made the news.
The minister maintained his position, stating that it was already federal government policy, in spite of the opposition.
He claimed that the measure was intended to address some of the most significant issues that universities and other postsecondary institutions are currently confronting.
