FORMER SENATE PRESIDENT LAWAN DONATES N30 MILLION TO FLOOD VICTIMS IN YOBE
Senator Ahmad Lawan, a former Senate president, has contributed N30 million to flood victims in three local government areas of Yobe North, his constituency.
Lawan’s N30 million donation takes his total recent donation to flood victims in his Senatorial District to N55 million, according to a statement issued by his media aide, Ezrel Tabiowo, in Abuja.
Just two weeks ago, the congressman contributed N20 million to flood victims in Nguru local government area and N5 million to those evacuated in Karasuwa local government.
Speaking during a visit to Yusufari Local Government Area on Sunday to survey the damage caused by recent flooding, Lawan stated that the monies contributed will be utilised to purchase critical commodities like food, clothing, shelter, and medical supplies for affected people.
He encouraged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) to extend more assistance to people affected and displaced by flooding.
Lawan also urged well-meaning individuals and organisations to join forces in aiding the victims, as every contribution, no matter how modest, would make a huge impact in their lives.
