Kabiru Classic, a former member of the House of Representatives, has switched to the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Following meetings with state APC Chairman Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Political Organisation Chairman Alhaji Lawal M. Liman, and other Zamfara APC stakeholders in Kaduna, Classic announced his defection on Thursday.

Between 2019 and 2023, Alhaji Kabiru Yahayya Classic served as the PDP’s representative for the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly.

Classic defected along with the Talata Mafara Local Government Area’s PDP hierarchy, which included the LG PDP Chairman and each of the LGA’s ten PDP Ward Chairmen.

The former lawmaker said that he defected from the PDP because there was no justice and fairness in the Zamfara PDP chapter.

“I Kabiru Yahayya Classic, Today, Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, wish to announce my defection from the PDP to the progressive party, the APC.

“I am defecting with All PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area including the Local Government EXCO of the PDP and the 10 out of 11 Ward Chairmen of the PDP.

Receiving the Lawmaker, the State APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani described Classic defection as a welcome development for the APC.

“We are happy to receive our brother in our great party, this is a great development.

“More defectors from the PDP-led Government in Zamfara are ready to join the APC very soon.

“We assured the Classic and all the defectors of fair treatment in APC, adding that the APC has a great structure with good internal democracy”, Danfulani explained.

Additionally, Alhaji Lawal M. Liman, the Chairman of Sen. Yari’s Political Organisation, praised Kabiru Classic and other defectors for joining the progressive side.

According to Liman, the APC is the only party with a plan to advance Nigeria and Zamfara.

Less than a week has passed since Suleiman Gummi, a federal lawmaker representing the Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency, announced his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
