(BREAKING) IBADAN STAMPEDE: OONI OF IFE’S EX-WIFE, PRINCIPAL, HAMZAT REMANDED IN AGODI CORRECTIONAL CENTRE
The principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun Ibadan, Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, the owner of Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, and Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, have all been ordered to be remanded to Agodi Correctional Centre by a Chief Magistrate court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The order was issued on Tuesday by the court, which was presided over by Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi.
According to information obtained, the three were taken into custody in relation to the recent stampede at the school.
Men from the Oyo State Police Command reportedly hauled the three to court on Tuesday.
The arraignment of the suspects took place under strict security.
According to some sources, family members of the defendants and other interested people crowded the court’s grounds.
Four charges were brought against the defendants.
The defendants’ offence, according to the police prosecutor, violated Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
In anticipation of the state prosecutor’s recommendation, Ogunkanmi directed that the suspects be detained at Agodi Correctional Centre.
