TEENAGER JAILED FOR ASSAULTING SEX WORKER IN KADUNA
The 19-year-old Dahiru Usman was sentenced to one month in a correctional facility by a Shari’a court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, for abusing sex worker Zainab Idris.
Usman was given the opportunity to pay a N7,000 fine by the presiding judge, Malam Kabir Muhammad, when he delivered the verdict.
He was also given a 12-month prison sentence by the court unless he compensated Idris with N70,000.
As stated by the prosecutor, ASP Luka Sadau, Idris, a resident of Kigo Road, reported something to the Sabon Gari Police Station on January 15.
“On that day, around 2:30 p.m., the accused and the complainant agreed to meet at a hotel on Constitution Road for a service priced at N10,000. However, a disagreement arose in the hotel room, leading Usman to assault Idris, striking her on the head with a hammer and causing injury,” Sadau explained.
The attack weapon, a hammer, was shown as evidence in court. In order to achieve justice, Sadau urged the court to compensate the victim for her losses and injuries.
Usman expressed regret for his actions and entered a guilty plea to the charges of assault and causing hurt as part of his defense.
