COURT ORDERS PERMANENT FORFEITURE $4.7M, N830M, PROPERTIES LINKED TO EMEFIELE

A permanent forfeiture of $4.7 million, ₦830 million, and other assets associated with Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been imposed by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

In a ruling on Friday, Justice Yellim Bogoro also mandated the final loss of $900,000 in investments linked to Anita Joy Omoile, a close relative of Emefiele.

The court also mandated the final forfeiture of an additional $4.4 million in investments linked to Deep Blue Energy Services Ltd., N283 million in Zenith Bank, which was traced to the Liman Investment Ltd. area, €20,000, and £1,999.50, which were all connected to Omoile and Exactquote Bureau De Change (BDC).

At the instance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Justice Bogoro granted the final forfeiture of all the funds to the Federal Government of Nigeria after holding that they were proceeds of unlawful activities.
