NNPCL, DANGOTE MOVES TO RESOLVE RIVALRY
By Jen Eleazar
NPCL (Nigerian Petroleum Corporation Limited) and Dangote have reportedly decided to resolve their months-long rivalry. Both parties, which have been in conflict for some time, are now making efforts to settle their differences. While details of the reconciliation efforts are still unfolding, this development signals a potential shift towards collaboration or a mutual agreement, ending their previous competition or discord.
At a meeting in Abuja, the companies committed to strengthening collaboration to support Nigeria’s energy security and promote shared prosperity for its citizens.
A previous petrol price war led to the suspension of the crude-for-Naira deal brokered by the Nigerian government, but the deal was later reinstated after the national oil company’s management was replaced. During a visit to NNPC Ltd., Dangote Group CEO Aliko Dangote pledged to collaborate with the new NNPC leadership to enhance Nigeria’s energy security, emphasizing cooperation rather than competition between the two organizations.
Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), assured Dangote of a mutually beneficial partnership based on healthy competition and collaboration. He also praised the NNPC Ltd. workforce, calling them dedicated, skilled, and committed to delivering value for Nigeria.
Ojulari stated that NNPC is committed to building national prosperity through innovation and shared goals and will continue collaborating with the Dangote Group when it benefits Nigeria commercially.
The two executives pledged to serve as relationship managers for their organizations, focusing on continuous collaboration and healthy competition. They aim to create endless opportunities for both organizations through this approach.
