EPL: MANCHESTER UNITED COMPLETE £62.5M SIGNING OF WOLVES’ MATHEUS CUNHA

Manchester United have completed the signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a deal reportedly valued at £62.5 million ($83 million) on Sunday.
Cunha is set to sign a five-year contract with the Old Trafford side, with an option to extend the agreement by an additional year.
“Manchester United has reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha,” a United statement said.
“Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford.”
The 26-year-old spent the weekend in Manchester finalizing his transfer, which remains subject to visa approval and official registration.
Cunha, who has earned 13 caps for Brazil, had an impressive season with Wolves, netting 18 goals across all competitions and earning the club’s Player of the Year award.
Since joining Wolves from Atletico Madrid in January 2023, the Brazilian forward scored 33 goals in 92 appearances across all competitions.
Manchester United triggered the release clause in Cunha’s contract to secure his arrival as new manager Ruben Amorim’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
Amorim’s side ended a disappointing campaign with a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham and a 15th-place Premier League finish — their worst league position since the 1973-74 season.
