NSUKKA MARGINALIZATION, APC MEMBERS ASK TINUBU TO INTERVENE
By Jen Nomamiukor
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Enugu North Senatorial district have formally requested President Bola Tinubu’s intervention regarding their concerns of marginalization by certain party leaders within Enugu state.
Party members have claimed they have been excluded from most appointments, marginalized in key decision-making processes, and even suspended from party leadership in Enugu State.
Party members have directed their frustrations toward the Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, and factional State Party Chairman Ugochukwu Agballa, blaming them for various issues within the party. They have demanded clarification from Nnaji regarding a purported certificate scandal that surfaced in the media last year. Chief Eugene Odo, former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, cautioned Nnaji against disrespecting APC leaders in the Enugu North district, highlighting that several leaders have faced insults and suspensions from Agballa and his associates. Odo announced plans to travel to the UK in July to defend the reputation of the affected leaders. Additionally, Maj. Gen. JOJ Okoloagu (rtd), a member of the APC Board of Trustees, praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing Chief Eugene Odo to the governing council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, representing the South East.
The speaker expressed concern that the elected executive members of the party from Nsukka zone have been marginalized, asserting their commitment to remain with the party despite external pressures.
Dr. Oby Aji, the candidate for the Igbo Eze North/Udenu federal constituency, emphasized that despite having the highest number of APC supporters in the state, the zone faces marginalization in political appointments. The meeting also included notable figures such as Chief Emma Idoko, the Zonal Chairman of the party, Mr. Peter Ugwu, the APC candidate for Nsukka West Constituency, and Mrs. Nkem Oloto, the state Public Relations Officer of the party.
