Among those arrested were four suspected kidnappers, five drug dealers, 12 motor vehicle thieves, four fraudsters, five general theft suspects, and 47 suspected street thugs.

Bakori said the police recovered several exhibits from the suspects, including dangerous weapons, stolen vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles, mobile phones, counterfeit currency, and illicit drugs.

“This media briefing is to bring you up to speed on the current security progress made and crime-fighting strategies adopted by the Command, which have yielded positive results in our mission to rid the state of crime,” the commissioner stated.

To bolster ongoing efforts, the command has launched a new operation codenamed “Operation Kukan Kura”, which he described as a community policing-driven initiative.

“Operation Kukan Kura symbolises strict adherence to the principles of community policing. It is designed to encourage public participation in policing through information sharing and proactive crime management,” Bakori said.

He added that the special operation aims to act as a radar for identifying and addressing threats including thuggery in Kano metropolis, kidnapping and banditry along border areas, drug abuse, and other social vices.

Commending residents for their cooperation, Bakori assured that the command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property in the state.

He urged citizens to continue reporting suspicious activity and provided emergency contact numbers: 08032419745, 08123821575, and 09029292926.
