Dimgba: Enyimba Ready To Challenge For NPFL Title
Read Time:1 Minute, 12 Second
Enyimba winger Stanley Dimgba believes the club is now ready to challenge for the league title after their hard fought 1-0 home win against champions Plateau United in their Nigeria Professional Football League match day eight fixture at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Peoples Elephant moved from 11th to fifth in the table following the win, three points adrift league leaders Akwa United who have a game in hand.
Dimgba scored the winning goal from the spot in the 10th minute.
Paul Aigbogun’s men will face four-time champions Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday in another tough fixture.
After seeing his side extend their unbeaten run to three games, the former Sunshine Stars player who has hit the back of the net three times for the Aba giants this season is confident the team is now in a good position to win a record eighth NPFL title.
“It was a tough game and Plateau United gave us a good fight,” Dimgba told CSN.
“Scoring that early penalty made things a little bit easy for us. Now we are up in the table and we hope to continue from there.
“Our ambition is to win the title and we’ve shown in the last three games that we can do that. We still need to improve in a lot of areas and we will continue to do our best.”
