The Quality Health Safety Environment Sustainability (QHSES) Leadership Academy, held its 4th Convocation Ceremony for the Class of 2025, with graduands, dignitaries, traditional rulers, and industry leaders in attendance.

The event, which took place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, featured inspiring lectures, goodwill messages, awards, and the presentation of certificates to graduating students.

Speaking at the monumental event, the founder of the QHSES Leadership Academy, Engr. Jamiu Badmos, congratulated the graduating Class of 2025 while unveiling key statistics and the academy’s future vision.

According to him, a total of 4,082 applications were received for the session, out of which 1,014 candidates were matriculated. Of these, 643 successfully graduated, comprising 61% males and 39% females.

The class also included 17 international students from seven different countries outside Nigeria. Fifty-four graduands earned distinctions, evenly split between male and female students.

Engineer Badmos noted that the Academy, which is already accredited by the American Council of Training and Development and certified under ISO 9001:2015 standards, is on course to achieve greater global recognition.

“This academy will soon be adopted by the United Nations. This academy will soon turn to an online university that takes some courses on business. That is our vision. I know one day you will be seated not as a graduate, but as someone who will say: we set it on this podium in 2025 and it came to pass,” he said.

The popularly acclaimed Jagaban of Safety emphasized that the QHSES Leadership Academy goes beyond traditional Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) training, offering a wide range of modules including enterprise risk management, project management, quality management, audit, and human resources.

Badmos further underscored the collaborative spirit and passion of stakeholders who, without financial incentives, have contributed to building what he described as Africa’s first “prestigious, tuition-free social innovation academy.”

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Mojisola Olateru-Olagbegi urged the graduating class to embrace collaboration and community impact as a pathway to leadership.

She emphasized the importance of working with local communities and governments, describing them as approachable partners in solving societal challenges.

“We all need to play in the local government, we all need to play in our local communities,” she said, noting that government funding now directly reaches local councils, opening opportunities for impactful partnerships.

Dr. Olateru-Olagbegi challenged the graduates to look beyond personal gains and use their skills to address issues such as out-of-school children, youth orientation, and community safety.

She highlighted the negative influence of cybercrime and foreign exploitation, warning against the mindset that damages Nigeria’s global reputation.

“You worked hard for your degree… what can you do in the community? Whichever organization you find yourself in, you can change the organization and encourage them to do more,” she stated, stressing the role of safety and sustainability in nation-building.

The CEO further encouraged the Class of 2025 to explore entrepreneurial funding opportunities and leverage collaboration with private and community-based groups.

Citing examples of organizations already making a difference without government intervention, she described such initiatives as proof that collective action works.

Her closing message was one of patriotism and optimism: “Japa is not the solution… Nigeria is going to be better, it’s going to be greater, it’s going to be beautiful. Don’t give up on our country, it’s our country. Nigeria is a great country.”

She charged the graduates to rise as leaders, uphold integrity, and pursue projects that will leave lasting impact, affirming: “This is just a call to action… you will make a difference.”

Delivering the convocation lecture on the topic “Beyond Success: The Path to Significance,” Mrs. Modupe Ehirim, Founder and Lead Counselor at The Right Fit Marriage Academy, emphasized the importance of living a life that transcends personal achievements and contributes meaningfully to society.

In his goodwill message, the Sarkin Alimosho Overall, HRH Alhaji Ahmad Haruna Kuraja, urged the graduates to collaborate with government and community stakeholders to drive development.

“It’s not that when you have a certificate, you now go and just sit down like that. We all have something to do for our life. We all have progressive in our hearts. So, may Almighty Allah guide us,” he said.

On his part, the Director General/CEO of the Quality and Management Systems Auditors Institute (QMSAI), Dr. Cletus Akhigbe, congratulated the graduates and announced free professional development opportunities.

“The institute will give free training and certification to five of the best graduands. Then the next five will have auditor training free with both training and certification. Please don’t take it for granted,” he stated.

Also speaking, Dr. Wilson Arikpo, Governor-General of SafERR Ambassadors in Nigeria, disclosed a scholarship initiative for all graduating students.

“Qualifying students… have free induction into the SAFERR Global Institute at the graduate induction level. Each of those entry points is normally at a cost of 250,000 Naira. That’s a scholarship package we are giving for everyone who is graduating here today,” he announced.

The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to graduates, which was led by Dapo Omolade, Chancellor of QHSES Leadership Academy.

Outstanding students were recognized with numerous rewards, gifts, packages, and scholarships, underscoring the academy’s commitment to excellence and impact.
