The 25-year-old is set to complete his transfer, including a medical examination in London on Monday, prior to signing a long-term agreement with the Premier League champions.

As reported by the media on Monday, the arrangement was finalized after both clubs agreed on a fee for Guehi, following Liverpool’s initial proposal of £35 million that included a 10 percent sell-on clause.

This represents Liverpool’s second notable acquisition on transfer deadline day, following the finalization of a £125 million agreement for Newcastle forward Alexander Isak.

Guehi led Crystal Palace to a 3-0 victory against Aston Villa on Sunday evening in the final of his 162 appearances for the London club, netting a remarkable second goal.

In his post-match comments, he refrained from addressing his future.

“All I know is when you score goals like that, it is always a result of team performance. Individuals may attempt to highlight the goal, but that was unequivocally a team effort tonight,” he stated.

Guehi has been a prominent target for Liverpool this summer after Jarrell Quansah departed Anfield for Bayer Leverkusen.

Concerns regarding the stability of Liverpool’s defense have also emerged, following their concession of six goals in their first three matches of the season.

They were defeated in the Community Shield on penalties by Palace, whom Guehi captained at Wembley, and relinquished two-goal advantages in the Premier League to Bournemouth and Newcastle before rallying to secure victories.

In addition to acquiring Isak, Liverpool has also signed Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Giovanni Leoni, bringing their total expenditure to approximately £451.2 million without additional fees—marking the highest expenditure in Premier League history.

This is only the second occasion on which an English club has expended over £400 million in a summer transfer window, following Chelsea’s £401.2 million expenditure in 2023.

Meanwhile, the departures of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tyler Morton, and Ben Doak have recouped an initial sum of around £190 million.
