The Osun State Police Command has refuted claims in a viral video alleging that travellers were attacked by bandits at Omi Funfun, Ora Igbomina, in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State.

Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, clarified in a statement on Monday that the alleged attack did not happen in Osun but in Kwara State.

“The trending video on social media has nothing to do with Osun State. The alleged attack occurred on 18th August, 2025, around Rore/Arandun area, Kwara State,” Ojelabi stated.

He warned against spreading unverified reports, stressing that linking incidents from other states to Osun creates unnecessary panic among residents.

“The Command therefore enjoins the general public to disregard the viral video and warns against tagging such incidents from another State as having occurred in Osun,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, assured residents that stringent security measures have been put in place. He disclosed that Tactical Squads and intelligence operatives have been deployed across border communities to reinforce security and maintain peace in the state.
