TOP 10 CONTRIBUTORS TO NIGERIA’S GDP IN Q2 2025

Nigeria’s economy accelerated in the second quarter of 2025, growing by 4.23 percent year-on-year, marking a notable improvement from 3.48 percent in Q2 2024 and 3.13 percent in Q1 2025.
The National Bureau of Statistics disclosed this information in its Q2 2025 GDP Report published on Monday.
The report indicates that ten sectors significantly contributed to Nigeria’s real GDP during this quarter.
It reveals that the agricultural sector represented approximately 26.17 percent of real GDP, while non-oil industries continued to prevail in overall output in Q2 2025.
Below are the top ten contributing sectors and their proportions of Nigeria’s real GDP in Q2 2025, listed from largest to smallest.
Trade — Contributing 18.28 percent of real GDP, trade remained the foremost contributor in Q2 2025 and encompasses both wholesale and retail activities.

Crop production — 17.80 percent. Crop farming emerged as the leading sub-sector within agriculture and the second-largest contributor overall.
Real estate services — 12.80 percent. The real estate sector consistently made a substantial contribution to overall output.
Telecommunications and information services — 11.18 percent. The information and communication technology sector (telecoms, ICT) served as a significant non-oil driver.
Livestock — 5.90 percent. Livestock emerged as the subsequent largest agricultural contributor.
Crude petroleum & natural gas — 4.05 percent. The oil sector’s pronounced recovery bolstered its share of real GDP.
Construction — 3.60 percent. Construction played a significant role in Q2 activities, reflecting ongoing infrastructure and building projects.
Food, beverage & tobacco (manufacturing) — 2.87 percent. This manufacturing sub-sector remained a crucial cornerstone of industrial output.
Financial institutions — Banks and associated financial services secured a position on the top ten list, contributing 2.84 percent to the GDP.
Public administration — Government administration completed the top ten contributors with a 2.73 percent input into Nigeria’s GDP in Q2.
