JUST IN: TWO KANO ASSEMBLY LAWMAKERS DIE HOURS APART

Tragedy struck the Kano State House of Assembly on Wednesday following the death of two serving lawmakers within a few hours of each other.
The deceased legislators are Hon. Aminu Saad Ungogo, who represented Ungogo Constituency, and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, the lawmaker representing Kano Municipal Constituency.
The death of Hon. Ungogo was first announced by the Special Adviser on Information to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Ibrahim Adam. In a post on his verified Facebook page, Adam expressed condolences and prayed for the repose of the lawmaker’s soul.
“May Allah forgive Hon. Aminu Saad Ungogo, State Assembly Member representing Ungogo Constituency of Kano State,” he wrote.
Barely an hour later, the death of Hon. Daneji was confirmed by the Director of Media at the Kano Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. Announcing the development on his Facebook page, Dawakin Tofa described the incident as a painful loss to the state.
“Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihirrajiun. Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, member representing Kano Municipal at Kano State House of Assembly died today an hour after the death of his counterpart,” he stated.
As of press time, details surrounding the circumstances of the deaths of the two lawmakers remained unclear.
The back-to-back losses have thrown the Kano State House of Assembly and the wider political community into mourning, with tributes already pouring in from colleagues, government officials and residents of the state.
