ACF Says It Will Not Endorse Any Candidate in 2027 Presidential Election

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has announced that it will not endorse any candidate in the 2027 presidential election, the forum’s National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, has said.

Instead, the forum plans to interview presidential hopefuls over the next six months to assess their proposals for the northern region and the country as a whole.

Speaking in Kaduna, Muhammad-Baba explained that candidates will be asked to present strategies for addressing insecurity and poverty in the North.

“Just like in the 2023 presidential elections, the forum will invite all aspirants to explain how they will tackle insecurity, poverty, and other issues affecting the northern region if elected president in the 2027 polls,” he said.

He added that the forum will compile a position paper on the North and present it to the eventual winner of the 2027 election, outlining recommendations for addressing the region’s challenges.

Muhammad-Baba also noted that in 2023, opposition candidates—former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)—did not attend the forum’s sessions despite invitations. In contrast, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi participated in the interactive session.
