Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez has warned that his side’s AFCON quarter-final encounter with Nigeria will be far from easy.
Speaking after Algeria’s Round of 16 victory over DR Congo on Friday, Mahrez emphasized that anything could happen when the two sides meet on Saturday.
“Nigeria? We know them well, the match won’t be easy,” the former Leicester City star said. “Another last-minute free kick? We will see, anything is possible.”
The upcoming clash revives memories of the 2019 AFCON semi-final, where Mahrez’s dramatic last-minute free kick eliminated the Super Eagles from the tournament.
