NIGERIA TO EXPERIENCE HAZY WEATHER FOR THREE DAYS, SAYS NIMET

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunny and hazy weather across the country from Wednesday to Friday.

In its Tuesday weather outlook released in Abuja, NiMet stated that the northern region would experience sunny and hazy skies throughout the forecast period, while the central region is expected to see similar conditions.

The southern region is forecast to have sunny skies with occasional cloud cover, with isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall expected later in the day over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.

“For Thursday, sunny and hazy skies are expected over the northern and central regions, while the southern region will record sunny conditions with patches of clouds,” the agency said. Morning thunderstorms with light rainfall are anticipated over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.

On Friday, northern states will experience sunny and hazy skies in the morning, with dust haze developing in the afternoon and evening. The central region will continue to experience sunny and hazy conditions, while the southern region is expected to have cloudy skies with sunny intervals. Isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall are forecast over parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states, with further thunderstorms expected later in the day across Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.

NiMet cautioned that dust particles are currently suspended over the north-central region and urged residents to take necessary precautions. Individuals with respiratory conditions such as asthma were advised to exercise caution, while motorists were reminded to drive carefully during rainfall.

Airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather updates from NiMet to ensure safe operations. The agency encouraged Nigerians to stay informed through regular weather updates.
