Activist Aisha Yesufu has been appointed deputy chairperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Membership Revalidation Committee.
The party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, announced the appointment on Wednesday while inaugurating the 20-member committee, describing the revalidation exercise as a critical step toward repositioning the ADC for growth, unity, stronger internal cohesion and improved electoral competitiveness nationwide.
The committee is chaired by Kashim Imam, with Dr Sekonte Davies serving as secretary.
Mark said the initiative reflects the party’s founding principles of justice, equity, accountability and people-centred governance, noting that credible and verifiable membership data is vital to the party’s legitimacy, relevance and national success.
He explained that the committee, established by the National Working Committee (NWC), will oversee nationwide membership revalidation, fresh registrations, grassroots mobilisation and data harmonisation, using both electronic and manual platforms to ensure transparency and proper documentation.
The former Senate President added that new membership cards with state-specific security features would be introduced, and urged committee members to discharge their duties with integrity, fairness and inclusiveness while working closely with party leaders at the state and local levels.
In his response, committee chairman Kashim Imam pledged a transparent and diligent process, describing the exercise as a turning point aimed at rebuilding the ADC into an inclusive, people-driven political movement.
Imam disclosed that the committee has 30 days to submit its report, adding that mobilisation and registration efforts have already commenced across urban centres, rural communities, deserts and riverine areas nationwide.
