UNSTOPPABLE AFRICA: LAGOS SHINES AT 9TH AFRIMA AWARDS WITH GLOBAL CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN MUSIC

The City of Lagos, celebrated as one of the most vibrant cultural capitals in the world, hosted the grand finale of the 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), bringing together Africa’s finest musical talents for a night of recognition, celebration, and unity.
Afrima President Mike Dada reflected on the journey, acknowledging the support of institutions, brands, and individuals who have made the event possible. “This year’s edition would have been practically impossible without the support and partnership of our collaborators. Our mission is to connect people, elicit global peace, and foster economic growth through music,” Dada stated, paying tribute to his late wife, Mdupa Tsegitopegata, for her contributions to the journey.
Representing Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Toke Benson welcomed distinguished guests and highlighted the pivotal role of AFRIMA in promoting Africa’s creative economy. “African music has transcended geographical and cultural boundaries to become a universal language connecting people, cultures, and generations,” Benson said. He praised artists, producers, and industry professionals for their contribution to Africa’s thriving creative sector and encouraged young talents to pursue their craft with purpose and resilience.
The 9th AFRIMA Awards, themed “Unstoppable Africa,” also featured the AFRIMA Business Summit and the African Music Village, providing platforms for dialogue, networking, and capacity building across the continent’s music ecosystem.
Notable winners of the evening included Rema, Shallipopi, Burna Boy, Milo,Yemi Alade, Juma Jux, Takana Zion amongst others.
The awards ceremony once again positioned Lagos at the forefront of Africa’s cultural revolution, celebrating excellence, resilience, and the global influence of African music. Guests were urged to connect, enjoy, and celebrate Africa’s rich musical heritage in a truly unforgettable evening.
