Enzo Fernandez struck deep into stoppage time as Chelsea produced a stunning comeback from two goals down to defeat West Ham United 3-2 in a dramatic Premier League London derby at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Chelsea trailed 2-0 at half-time after first-half goals from Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville put the visitors firmly in control, drawing boos from frustrated home supporters.

However, the Blues responded with a spirited second-half revival, sparked by tactical changes from manager Liam Rosenior. Joao Pedro pulled one back before Marc Cucurella headed home the equaliser to set up a tense finale.

With the game heading for a draw, Chelsea captain Fernandez delivered the decisive moment two minutes into stoppage time, smashing home from close range after a pull-back from Joao Pedro to complete a remarkable turnaround.

The victory marked the first time in the Premier League era that Chelsea have come from two goals down at half-time to win a match.

Tempers flared in the dying moments as West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo was sent off for violent conduct after grabbing Joao Pedro by the throat.

West Ham had taken an early lead in the seventh minute when Bowen’s curling cross evaded everyone and drifted past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez into the far corner. The Hammers doubled their advantage in the 36th minute through Summerville, who finished emphatically from inside the box following a well-worked move.

Rosenior rang the changes at the break, substituting Alejandro Garnacho, Benoit Badiashile and Jorrel Hato as Chelsea pushed for a response. The substitutions paid off in the 58th minute when Wesley Fofana’s driving run ended with a cross that Joao Pedro headed home for his fifth goal in as many games.

Chelsea drew level in the 70th minute after Malo Gusto’s header dropped kindly for Cucurella, who nodded past Alphonse Areola from close range.

Chelsea completed the comeback in stoppage time, capping a memorable night that lifted them to fourth place in the Premier League table.

The win continued Rosenior’s impressive start in charge, with six victories from seven matches in all competitions since replacing Enzo Maresca. Attention now turns to Tuesday’s League Cup semi-final second leg, where Chelsea face Arsenal looking to overturn a 3-2 first-leg deficit.
