Governor Agbu Kefas on Monday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to harnessing the abundant solid mineral resources across Taraba State.
He made the statement while inaugurating the Stakeholders’ Engagement and Validation Workshop on the Mining Sector Roadmap Development in Jalingo, the state capital.
Through the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Kataps, the governor emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among government agencies, private investors, host communities, and industry experts to ensure mining operations are environmentally responsible and sustainable.
He encouraged stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to the creation of a comprehensive, practical, and investor-friendly roadmap that would guide the sector’s growth.
According to Kefas, a structured and transparent mining framework will attract responsible investment, generate employment, increase internally generated revenue, and stimulate economic growth in local communities.
“Taraba is richly endowed with solid minerals, and proper regulation, transparency, and adherence to sustainable practices remain central to my administration’s vision for the mining sector,” Kefas said.
