The Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has praised the Edo State Police Command, under Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika, for arresting a suspect allegedly connected to the abduction of one of its members, describing the move as a strong indication of the command’s commitment to public safety.
The commendation came after the police announced on Sunday the arrest of three suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate linked to the abduction of Dr. Ibrahim Abu and Tahir Abu.
In a statement issued in Benin City, NMA Edo Chairman, Dr. Eustace Oseghale, and Secretary, Dr. Iluobe Inegbenosun, lauded the police for their efforts in strengthening security across the state.
Oseghale noted that the arrest of the suspect tied to the kidnap of one of their members underscored the command’s resolve to protect doctors and residents alike.
He said the association deeply appreciates the commissioner’s sustained efforts to improve security in Edo State, adding that the swift and strategic response of officers had restored hope to the victim’s family and the wider community.
The NMA expressed confidence that the case would be diligently pursued to ensure justice for those responsible and to curb kidnapping incidents in the state, stressing that the police’s efforts would not go unnoticed.
