The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has launched its Digital Certificate Services System, WAEC DigiCert, across its five member countries: Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
The announcement was made in a statement on Monday, signed by Demianus Ojijeogu, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Headquarters in Accra, Ghana, on behalf of the Registrar.
WAEC described the Digital Certificate Services platform as “a mobile and web-based application that provides significant benefits to stakeholders,” noting that it features tools for users to access, request, verify, or share digital versions of their original certificates.
The Council added that candidates can also retrieve lost WAEC examination numbers through the system.
The Council assured stakeholders that “the system is reliable, the authenticity of the certificates is guaranteed, and the cost benefits to users are substantial.”
It further revealed that after a successful pilot in Nigeria, WAEC DigiCert “received positive feedback from candidates and educational institutions around the world.”
Encouraging the public to embrace the platform, WAEC urged stakeholders “to use WAEC DigiCert to bypass administrative delays and challenges linked to manual certificate issuance and collection.”

It added that the mobile application is available for download on the App Store and Play Store for iOS and Android devices, respectively, and further information can be accessed via WAEC’s official website and social media channels.
In addition, the Council announced the release of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for private candidates.
Candidates are advised to first check their results at www.waecdirect.org before accessing their released digital certificates on the WAEC DigiCert platform at www.waec.org.
