Galatasaray have left Victor Osimhen out of their Turkish Cup clash against Alanyaspor on Tuesday.

Already through to the next stage, the Istanbul giants aim to complete their Group A campaign in the Ziraat Turkish Cup with a perfect four-win record, having triumphed in all three of their previous group matches.

Galatasaray are juggling the demands of a tight Süper Lig title race alongside their UEFA Champions League knockout fixtures. The club last lifted the Turkish Cup in 2019.

To manage player workload, Osimhen and other key stars have been rested for “active rest,” according to an official statement from the Turkish champions.

Osimhen, who scored and assisted in Galatasaray’s 3-1 league victory over Alanyaspor at the weekend, now faces a demanding schedule, with six matches in 19 days, including a two-legged Champions League round of 16 tie against Liverpool.

In the Süper Lig, Galatasaray are chasing a fourth straight title and recently secured progression to the Champions League round of 16 following a dramatic win over Juventus.

After Saturday’s league win, Osimhen urged his teammates to stay focused as they approach a critical phase of the season in both domestic and European competitions.

The Turkish Cup fixture is followed by a key away derby against title rivals Beşiktaş, a match with major implications given the pressure from challengers Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor.

Following the domestic tests, Galatasaray will host Liverpool in a high-stakes Champions League encounter before traveling to Anfield for the return leg.

“The Beşiktaş game is very important,” Osimhen told the club’s official website.
“We’re taking it one match at a time. It will be tough, but we have a strong team too. First, Beşiktaş, then Liverpool, and we also have our cup match against Alanyaspor. Many matches are still ahead before the season ends.”
