By Aishat Momoh. O.

The Lagos State Government has advised motorists to make use of designated alternative routes following the resumption of the two-week partial closure of Kara Bridge for rehabilitation works by the Federal Government.
The repair exercise, which began on March 10, is scheduled to end on March 28, 2026.
In a traffic advisory issued on Tuesday, the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation urged motorists to avoid the bridge inward OPIC/Mowe axis and comply with approved diversion routes to ease traffic congestion during the period.
Under the first route option, motorists approaching from the Third Mainland Bridge are advised to connect through Ketu to Mile 12, proceed to Ogolonto, and continue to Ikorodu Garage before linking Sabo Roundabout to Isagamu Road or Itokin Road to reach their destinations.
For the second route option, motorists from Lagos Island are directed to connect Ilubinrin to Ijora Bridge, then access Eko Bridge to Funsho Williams Avenue, linking Ikorodu Road through Ojota to Ketu, and onward to Mile 12, Ogolonto and Ikorodu Garage before proceeding via Sabo Roundabout to Isagamu Road or Itokin Road.
Alternatively, motorists can connect from Ikorodu Garage through Sabo Roundabout to Ogijo, then proceed to Likosi, linking Shimawa to Lotto and continuing to Mowe.
The ministry also disclosed that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be deployed alongside traffic signage across the affected corridor to manage vehicular movement and minimise disruptions.
Motorists were urged to plan their journeys ahead and adhere strictly to traffic directives to avoid delays during the rehabilitation period.
