A faction of Boko Haram, Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), has released a video showing 416 residents of Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State who were abducted, claiming the captives are alive, in good health, and have not been mistreated.

In footage obtained and cited by hotjist, the group displayed the victims—mainly women and children, along with a few men—while interacting with them during the recording.

In the six-minute video, a member of the group stated that the recording was made at the request of the Borno South Youths Alliance (BOSYA), which he said has been acting as an intermediary since the abduction.

The group reiterated that the abductees remain safe in their custody.

Meanwhile, BOSYA confirmed that 416 people were taken and called on the Nigerian government, international partners, and global stakeholders to intensify efforts to secure their release.

The attack on Ngoshe community took place on March 4, when armed insurgents reportedly stormed the area and abducted hundreds of residents.
