OLADIMEJI, A MEMBER OF THE ADC NWC, SAYS A PETER OBI–KWANKWASO TICKET CANNOT BOOST THE PARTY’S NUMBERS

Fabiyi Oladimeji, Deputy National Financial Secretary of the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has dismissed the possibility of a viable presidential ticket between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of 2027.
He argued that only a combination of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi would give the party the numerical strength needed to challenge for victory in the next general election.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Oladimeji said the voting patterns from the 2023 elections suggest that an Obi/Kwankwaso ticket would not generate enough support to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Even Kwankwaso and Obi cannot give us the numbers, I am sorry to say this. The best option is Atiku and Obi,” he said.
He further noted that the combined votes of the three political figures in 2023 were significantly higher than those of the APC, arguing that a united front would change the electoral outcome.
“Atiku has said he will support whoever emerges. Amaechi has said the same thing. We are expecting Peter Obi to also make that commitment because this is not about personal ambition; it is about rescuing the country,” he added.
