Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has publicly acknowledged Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.
Ganduje made the statement on Tuesday at the Kano Government House during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo.
During his remarks, he greeted Sanusi and referred to him as the chairman of the Kano State Council of Emirs.
This development is notable as it is the first time Ganduje has openly recognized Sanusi in that capacity since removing him from the throne in 2020 while serving as governor.
Sanusi was later reinstated following the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
