POLICE APPREHENDS EIGHT SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS IN NASSARAWA

The Nigeria Police Force has caught eight people suspected of kidnapping after a joint security operation in Rukubi Community, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
This was shared in a statement on Thursday, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid.
The statement said the operation came after a report of distress was received early on May 7 about an attack by armed people in the community on the night of May 6.
The police said the attackers entered the area, “firing randomly and causing fear among the people,” before taking two people from different homes to a place that is not known.
The statement noted that operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies and local youths, immediately launched coordinated operations in the area, leading to the arrest of eight suspects linked to the incident.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all said to be from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.
The police added that security operatives recovered “two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells connected to the attack” during the operation.
The force further disclosed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the operation and later died while receiving treatment.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives involved in the mission, describing the outcome as evidence of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration.
The statement added that the IGP also appreciated “the invaluable support of sister security agencies, local vigilante groups, community youths, and residents whose cooperation significantly contributed to the successful outcome of the operation.”
