KANO POLICE, JTF RECOVERS STOLEN 67 COWS, ONE DONKEY, ONE SHEEP FROM SUSPECTED CATTLE RUSTLERS

Sixty-seven cattle were stolen, but all were recovered and returned within twenty-four hours. On 6 May 2026, cattle rustlers targeted several villages near Gwarzo, Kano State, stealing livestock vital to the livelihoods of local families. Kano Police and the Military Joint Task Force responded promptly.

The suspects engaged security forces but were overpowered and fled, abandoning the stolen livestock. Recovered livestock included 67 cows, one donkey, and one sheep.

All animals were verified and returned to their rightful owners on 7 May 2026, through the District Heads and under the supervision of the LGA Chairman. The livestock were stolen one evening and returned the next day, ensuring families dependent on them did not lose their means of survival.

The Kano State Police Command ensured the safe return of all livestock. Efforts to track down and arrest all fleeing suspects are ongoing. The authorities remain committed to ensuring they are brought to justice.
