Garba Musa Maidoki, who represents Kebbi South Senatorial District, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s senatorial primary election scheduled for Monday.
Maidoki announced his resignation in a letter dated May 14, 2026, obtained on Saturday, and addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
He attributed his decision to the ongoing internal crisis within the party, stating that the situation had adversely affected his political aspirations.
“I write to formally notify you of my withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rafin Zuru Ward,” the letter read.
“This decision follows the persistent internal crises within the party, which have continued to pose serious concerns to my political aspirations ” he added.
Maidoki also appreciated the party for the opportunity given to him to serve under its platform.
The lawmaker currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation.
His resignation comes amid rising political tension and internal divisions within the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State as the party prepares for its senatorial primaries, sparking speculation about possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
