A civil society organisation, Lygel Youths & Leadership Initiative, has urged the Ogun State Government to place greater attention on healthcare and infrastructure development to improve residents’ living conditions.

In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Lekan Oladapo, the group expressed concern over the state of healthcare facilities, infrastructure, and local government administration in parts of Ogun State.

The organisation said access to quality healthcare remains difficult for many communities despite ongoing renovation projects, noting that several Primary Healthcare Centres across the state still lack adequate facilities and personnel.

“We challenge this administration to show the people one major, newly constructed and fully functional state hospital built from the ground up in the last seven years,” the statement said.

The group also argued that challenges within local government administration have continued to affect healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

In addition, it raised concerns over poor infrastructure in border and industrial communities, especially along the Agbara–Atan–Lusada corridor, describing the condition of roads in the area as harmful to economic activities and investment.

According to the organisation, Ogun State’s closeness to Lagos should naturally position it for stronger industrial and infrastructural growth. It therefore urged the government to adopt a more strategic approach to border town development and public infrastructure planning.

The group further called for greater transparency and accountability in the execution of government projects, insisting that citizens should have easier access to information regarding public spending and procurement processes.

It maintained that improved healthcare, infrastructure, and grassroots governance would boost public confidence and drive development across the state, while also urging oversight agencies to closely monitor the use of public funds and implementation of projects.
