YOBE POLICE REPORT 152 CONVICTIONS, 448 ARRESTS IN ONE YEAR

The Yobe State Police Command says it recorded significant operational achievements over the past year, handling 407 criminal cases and securing 152 convictions.
Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Damaturu.
According to him, the cases investigated included 31 murder cases, 35 rape cases, eight kidnapping cases, 11 armed robbery cases and 322 other criminal offences.
He said a total of 448 suspects were arrested in connection with the various crimes.
“Out of the total, 152 suspects were convicted, 127 cases are currently before competent courts, 69 cases are pending investigation, 17 case files are awaiting legal advice, while 42 cases ended in acquittal,” he said.
Highlighting some of the command’s major operations, Jibrin said police operatives uncovered a suspected drug warehouse in Potiskum, arrested a suspected drug kingpin and recovered eight cartons of assorted illicit drugs, one-and-a-half Ghana-Must-Go bags containing Tramadol and Exzol tablets, as well as ₦835,500 believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
He added that officers successfully repelled resistance from members of the suspected drug syndicate and were intensifying efforts to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
The commissioner further disclosed that coordinated raids on criminal hideouts and drug dens in Jakusko Local Government Area led to the arrest of 14 suspected drug dealers and users, with the recovery of more than 300 sachets and packages of Tramadol, Indian hemp, Vega tablets and other prohibited substances.
Jibrin reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing, proactive crime prevention and the protection of lives and property across the state.
