CONTENT CREATOR SAYS TIKTOK VIDEOS LED TO LOSS OF BANK JOB

Becca Oluwabukola, a Nigerian content creator, has claimed that her activities on TikTok resulted in the loss of her job at a bank after she was allegedly directed to resign over videos recorded in the workplace.
In a TikTok video shared on Thursday, Becca said the bank accused her of exposing a sensitive area of its office in one of her vlogs, leading to disciplinary action and her eventual resignation.
Although she did not reveal the name of the bank or the position she held, Becca is known on TikTok for creating lifestyle content documenting her daily 9-to-5 work routine.
She explained that she began creating content in 2018 and started filming at her office in 2022 because she did not have a suitable space at home.
According to her, one of her early videos, which used a sound related to a salary increment, attracted attention from the bank’s management. She said she was queried for violating the institution’s social media policy but was later reinstated after spending some time away from work.
Becca said concerns over her TikTok activities resurfaced in 2026 after she posted another office vlog that allegedly showed a restricted section of the bank.
She disclosed that despite deleting the video after being warned, she received another query over what the bank described as the inappropriate exposure of a sensitive area.
The content creator said she later appeared before a disciplinary committee, apologised for the incident and was subsequently informed by her supervisor that she had been directed to resign with immediate effect.
She added that she complied with the instruction, describing the experience as emotionally painful.
According to the report, a review of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s guidelines on confidentiality indicates that banks are expected to safeguard sensitive operational information, customer data and secure facilities.
The regulations prohibit the unauthorised recording or publication of restricted areas such as cash vaults, strong rooms, CCTV control centres, back-office operations, customers’ confidential information, internal systems, passwords and other security-sensitive materials on social media.
