Manu Garba calls demands more after Golden Eaglet’s 5-1 demolition of
Cote d’Ivoire
Nigeria U17 coach Manu Garba ‎has praised the performance of his boys
after they secure their spot in the semi final of the ongoing WAFU B
African U17 Nations Cup Qualifiers in Niger Republic but insists the
team still needs to improve.
Nigeria booked their place in the semis with a 5-1 thrashing of Cote
d’Ivoire and according to the coach his boys should have scored more
goals, if they were more clinical in attack during the course of the
big win.
“Credit must be given to the coaches and the players going by the
manner which we secured this win over Cote d’Ivoire. They are a
football playing nation, so any win over them has a different feel to
it,” Manu Garba told Owngoalnigeria.com.
“We should have scored more goals and that is one area we have to
improve on when we play in the semi-final. Our style has always been
to score goals and let the defence protect us.”
Ahead of the‎ semi final clash, the soft spoken coach said his wards
are ready for whoever qualifies from the other group and they already
have an edge on their opponents after watching them play in their
first round of games.
“We will be ready for whoever comes our way. Already we have an idea
on how they play and what we need to do to break them down. Maybe it
will be easier for us because we know them but either of Togo, Ghana
or Niger won’t be easy to beat.”
