CAFCC: Rangers Pip USMBA, Advance To Next Round
Rangers booked a spot in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup following a convincing 2-0 win against Algerian club, Union Sportive Medinat Bel Abbes at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Saturday.
The Flying Antelopes edged the contest 2-0 on aggregate having held USMBA to a goalless draw in the first leg last weekend.
Gbenga Ogunbote ‘ s men dominated the opening exchanges and were rewarded for their efforts with Bright Silas grabbing the opening goal in the fifth minute.
Silas got on the end of Ugonna Uzochukwu’s defence splitting pass and rounded off USMBA goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the net.
He netted his second of the game on the dot of half time putting the game beyond the visitors.
Silas has now scored three goals for Rangers in the CAF Confederation Cup this season.
The Enugu club are looking to become the first Nigerian club to win the competition.
