Evangelise Africa, Seun Kuti preaches

Read Time:1 Minute, 59 Second

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has said the job of spreading Pan Africanism should be borne by Africanists themselves.
Seun said this on Sunday at Kalakuta Museum, Ikeja, Lagos during a colloquium organised by Pan-African Consciousness Renaissance, as part of activities to mark this year’s edition of Felabration. He said, just the way religious evangelists preached their gospel, so also Pan Africanists must preach Africanism.
“Each one, tell one,” the fiery son of the late Fela Kuti who has led the Egypt 80 Band said. “In the late eighties, the early nineties, (there were) evangelists everywhere. So, we have to be Africa’s evangelists. We need to go on the streets. Me, I think I’m the biggest evangelists because I have the music for pan Africanism. I use my music everywhere I go. Everything I say is dedicated to preaching African unity.”
About a fortnight ago, Seun Kuti released a new 3-song EP titled Struggle Sounds on Sony Music Masterworks. The EP which is co-produced by Robert Glasper has songs like Gimme My Vote BackC.P.C.DStruggle Sounds and African Dreams. The C.P.C.D stands for Corporate Public Control Department.
