The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested a pastor, Edwin Nwabueze, and another suspect, Sadiq Jamiu, over their alleged involvement in the theft of a Toyota Camry in Abuja.

The vehicle was reportedly stolen at UTC Plaza in the Garki area of the Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement issued on Friday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, disclosed that Nwabueze was arrested at his residence on October 27 following investigations into the incident.

According to the police, Nwabueze identified himself as a pastor with Salvation Power Bible Ministry in the North Bank area of Benue State. He is said to be from Oji River, Enugu State, but resides in Benue.

The statement added that following his arrest, Nwabueze led police operatives to another location, where his alleged accomplice, Jamiu, was apprehended.

The command further disclosed that preliminary investigations had linked Nwabueze to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command over alleged involvement in vehicle theft cases.

The police alleged that the suspects were members of an interstate vehicle theft syndicate involved in stealing and selling vehicles across different states.

It added that investigations were ongoing to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s activities and arrest other members still at large.

The command said the suspects remained in custody and would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
