Nigerian singer Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X, and his wife, Ella, have held their Nikkah ceremony, officially solemnising their marriage under Islamic law.
The couple held the Islamic wedding on Thursday night, following their civil wedding in Malta, which took place in September.
The ceremony featured an opening prayer, introduction of guests, recitation from the Holy Qur’an, thanksgiving, a naming ceremony, the Nikkah, prayers and blessings, as well as donations to the mosque.
However, the inclusion of a naming ceremony in the programme has sparked questions about its significance, particularly whether it was connected to a possible conversion to Islam.

There has been no official confirmation, however, that Ella converted to the religion.
In September, the couple announced their civil wedding on Instagram, sharing photographs from the ceremony held in Malta.
“Legally hitched to the love of my life, in the most beautiful city, Malta, you have our hearts,” L.A.X wrote.
The singer had proposed to Ella on January 16, 2026.
Born Damilola Afolabi, L.A.X began his musical journey as a rapper while in secondary school, where he formed a group known as Flyboiz before venturing into a solo career.
He rose to prominence in 2013 following the release of Caro, a collaboration with Nigerian singer Wizkid under Starboy Entertainment.
The success of the song paved the way for another collaboration between the duo on Ginger, further strengthening his position in the Nigerian music industry.
