The Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Yahaya Saidu, has died in a hospital in Kaduna, less than three months after taking office.

The Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) announced his death in a statement on Saturday, expressing grief over the loss.

The state ALGON chairman, Titus Obadiah, described the late Saidu as a dedicated leader whose contributions to Fufore Local Government Area and Adamawa State would be greatly missed.

Obadiah, while expressing sadness over the development, said the news of Saidu’s death was received with a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty God.

He noted that the late council chairman’s death was a significant loss to his family, friends, associates, constituents and the entire state.

According to him, Saidu demonstrated commitment to serving his people, adding that his passing had left a void in the community.

Obadiah also extended his condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Fufore, praying for God to grant them strength and comfort during the difficult period.

Saidu was sworn in as chairman of Fufore Local Government Area on July 15, 2026, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His death comes about 17 months after his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, died while in office on April 23, 2025.
