ADELEKE URGES OSUN POLITICIANS TO SET ASIDE DIFFERENCES, SUPPORT TINUBU IN 2027

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has assured President Bola Tinubu of his commitment to delivering the state’s votes to him in the 2027 election, stressing that he does not make empty promises and that politics should be guided by integrity.

Adeleke gave the assurance on Sunday when he received the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajibola Basiru, who paid him a visit.

The governor described Tinubu as his “dear father” and said his commitment to supporting the President was genuine.

Adeleke emphasised that he was serious about his pledge to deliver Osun State’s votes to Tinubu, saying his promise was “100 per cent.”

He said, “I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent.”

Politics must be with integrity. We are all from Osun State. Let’s forget our differences and work for the President.”

Adeleke said his position was influenced by the values instilled in him by his father, whom he described as a diplomat and labour union politician.

According to him, his father taught him and his siblings that whenever they made a commitment, they must ensure that they fulfilled it.

He said the principle had remained a strong family value and had shaped his conduct in politics.

The governor recalled his role in the political negotiations that preceded the emergence of Godswill Akpabio as Senate President and Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Adeleke said he had assured President Tinubu during the period that lawmakers from Osun would support the President’s preferred candidates, despite indications that some members of his political group were backing Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

He said he contacted the lawmakers and persuaded them to align with the President’s position, adding that the three senators from Osun and members of the House of Representatives eventually supported the preferred candidates.

Adeleke said the experience reinforced his belief that political commitments should be honoured.

He added that he does not play political games or make promises he has no intention of fulfilling.

“I don’t make empty promises, I don’t play games. That’s not me, because I have a fear of God,” he said.

The governor therefore called on politicians and residents of Osun to put aside their differences and work together for the development of the state and the success of the President.

He said political differences should not prevent people from supporting initiatives that would benefit Osun State and its people.
