The Social Democratic Party has formally submitted the name of its presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, to the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The submission was contained in an official letter addressed to the commission following the party’s national convention and presidential primary held in Bauchi on May 9, 2026.

The correspondence, signed by the SDP National Secretary, Olu Agunloye, stated that the party was forwarding the details of its duly elected presidential flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election.

According to the party, the national convention and direct primary election were conducted peacefully and successfully at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, where Adebayo emerged as the sole aspirant and secured overwhelming support from delegates and party members.

In the letter titled, “Submission of the Name and Other Details of SDP Presidential Candidate,” the party informed INEC that, “the presidential candidate nominated by the Social Democratic Party for sponsorship in the 2027 presidential election is Prince Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo.”

The SDP also requested the electoral commission to provide the necessary nomination documents, including Forms EC9, EC9A, EC9B, EC9C, EC9D and EC9E, to enable the formal completion of the candidate nomination process.

Adebayo, who flew the SDP flag in the 2023 presidential election, was returned unopposed at the party’s convention after emerging as the sole aspirant for the party’s presidential ticket.
