Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has assured Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to tackling insecurity and restoring safety across the country.

Akpabio gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving members of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, led by its National President, Lima Ahmed, during a courtesy visit to the National Assembly.

According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President said the Federal Government is paying close attention to the nation’s security challenges and taking steps to address them.

He cited the recent rescue of abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State as evidence of the administration’s ongoing efforts to combat insecurity.

Akpabio expressed confidence that the government’s interventions would yield positive results, urging Nigerians not to rely solely on information circulating on social media, which he said may not accurately reflect developments across the country.

The Senate President also spoke on women’s participation in politics, suggesting that a lack of support among women during elections could be linked to instances where some female officeholders failed to use their positions to advance the interests of other women.

He further pledged his support, as well as that of the Senate, for the forthcoming international ladies’ golf tournament scheduled to take place at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.

Earlier, Ahmed thanked Akpabio for receiving the association’s delegation, formally invited him to the tournament and decorated him as the Grand Patron of the association.
