BENFICA SIGN NIGERIAN FORWARD JANET AKEKOROMOWEI ON FOUR-YEAR DEAL OPTION

Falconets forward Janet Akekoromowei has completed a move to Portuguese champions Benfica, according to reports.

The 18-year-old signed a two-year contract with the club, which includes an option for an additional two years.

Akekoromowei joins Benfica from Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side Bayelsa Queens.

The talented striker enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 campaign, earning the league’s Most Valuable Player award after scoring 13 goals in 19 appearances for Nasarawa Amazons.

At the international level, she represented Nigeria at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia as a member of the Falconets squad.

She has also featured for the Super Falcons, earning senior international caps for Nigeria.
