APC MEGA RALLY: AKPABIO, GOVERNORS ARRIVE OSOGBO AHEAD OF OSUN POLL

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, alongside the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, on Wednesday arrived in Osogbo, Osun State, ahead of the All Progressives Congress mega rally.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Ikeja Federal Constituency representative in the House of Representatives, James Faleke, were also among the political leaders who arrived for the rally.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the high-profile gathering forms part of the APC’s final mobilisation efforts for its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s election.

The arrival of senior party leaders and governors is expected to strengthen the APC’s campaign and boost its grassroots mobilisation across the state.

The rally, scheduled for the final day of the official campaign period, is expected to draw party leaders, supporters, campaign coordinators and members from all 30 local government areas of Osun State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed August 13 as the deadline for campaigns after the governorship election was moved from August 8 to August 15.

The APC leadership has intensified its mobilisation efforts in the final days of the campaign to consolidate support for Oyebamiji, who emerged as the party’s candidate after its governorship primary in Osogbo.

The visiting governors and other party leaders have also been engaging APC members, supporters and indigenes of their respective states residing in Osun as part of efforts to garner additional support for the party’s candidate.

Oyebamiji, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, has continued to campaign on the APC platform, urging voters to support his bid to return Osun State to the path of development.

The mega rally is expected to be the APC’s major display of political strength before the campaign window officially closes.
