BARCELONA AGREE €10M DEAL TO SIGN GABRIEL JESUS FROM ARSENAL – REPORT

Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus in a late move before the close of the transfer window.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan club have agreed to pay €10 million plus add-ons for the 29-year-old striker, who is expected to undergo a medical as the transfer progresses.
Barcelona have been searching for a new attacking option throughout the summer, with Atletico Madrid forward Julián Alvarez initially identified as their preferred target.
However, Atletico have maintained their stance that Alvarez is not for sale to Barcelona, forcing the Spanish champions to explore alternative targets.
Alvarez returned to Atletico training on Sunday amid reports that he has accepted he will remain at the Madrid club for the time being.
Barcelona subsequently turned their attention to Jesus, who has reportedly fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal following the emergence of Kai Havertz and the arrival of Viktor Gyökeres.
Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and has made more than 70 appearances for the London club. However, his spell has been disrupted by injuries.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta recently suggested that departures involving Jesus and fellow Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli could be possible as the club reshapes its squad.
“It’s inevitable, at some point you need to have certain discussions and say certain things that sometimes are tough,” Arteta said.
“I think everybody knows and recognises how much we love Gabi (Martinelli). Whatever the outcome is, it will be because everybody agrees to that.”
A move to Barcelona would offer Jesus an opportunity to revive his career at one of Europe’s biggest clubs while providing manager Hansi Flick with an additional attacking option.
Barcelona have already made several moves during the transfer window and could now complete another high-profile deal with the reported arrival of the former Manchester City forward.
