OGUN POLICE KILL TWO SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, RESCUE ABDUCTED TRUCK DRIVER

The Ogun State Police Command has reported the killing of two suspected kidnappers and the rescue of an abducted professional truck driver during a counter-operation in the state.
The command also recovered two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of live ammunition, two mobile phones and N2 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.
The police disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi.
According to Opeyemi, the victim, a professional truck driver, was abducted at about 11:10pm on August 25, 2026, in the Ajibawo area of Ibese, Ogun State.
He said the Anti-Kidnapping Unit immediately commenced efforts to secure the victim’s release and apprehend the suspected perpetrators.
Opeyemi said operatives, acting on actionable intelligence, subsequently stormed the kidnappers’ hideout along the Papalanto–Ilaro Road.
He said the operation resulted in the neutralisation of two suspected members of the gang, while other suspects fled the scene with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.
“A search conducted at the hideout led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, twenty-five rounds of 5.6mm ammunition, two cell phones, and a cash sum of Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000), reasonably suspected to be part of the proceeds of criminal activities,” he said.
The remains of the two suspected kidnappers were deposited at a morgue for autopsy, while the command said efforts had been intensified to track down and arrest the fleeing members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for what he described as gallantry, professionalism, courage and operational effectiveness.
Ojajuni said the operation reinforced the command’s resolve to relentlessly pursue kidnappers and other violent criminals operating in the state.
He assured residents that Ogun would remain hostile terrain for criminal elements, adding that the command would continue to deploy intelligence-led policing, tactical operations and partnerships with communities to protect lives and property.
The police commissioner also urged residents to remain security-conscious and provide timely and credible information, particularly about persons seeking treatment for gunshot wounds, to assist ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
