BBNAIJA S10: WEEK 1 RECAP — DRAMA, TEARS, LAUGHTER, STRATEGY TAKE CENTER STAGE

By: Sefiu Ajape
The first week of Big Brother Naija Season 10, themed BBNaija: 10/10, served a thrilling mix of drama, emotion, and early alliances.
From viral diary room sessions to emotional outbursts and bold confrontations, here are the top highlights that got everyone talking:
1. Imisi’s Entrance
Imisi’s arrival made an immediate impact — not with glamour, but with unpredictability. Her unusual wig, mismatched outfit, and bold “Eku Ile” Yoruba greeting got people buzzing on social media. She set herself apart as a non-conventional housemate, introducing the idea of ‘street’ inclusivity to the show.
2. Zita Calls Out Forced Drama
During her diary session, Zita aired her annoyance at what she considered unnecessary theatrics from some housemates.
“I am dagbana choko, but it is natural,” she declared, stating she wouldn’t fake drama for screen time.
When Biggie asked, “What is dagbana choko?”, she stumbled in response: “Skolomindos… sorry,” sending viewers into fits of laughter.
3. Kaybobo vs Mesan: Bully Accusation Stirs Controversy
A heated moment unfolded when Mesan accused Kaybobo of being a bully, particularly referencing his interaction with Koyin. Kaybobo wasn’t having it:
“You wanna see a bully… I don talk my own, if you see me left, go right,” he snapped, visibly upset.
Tensions ran high, and Kaybobo eventually broke down in tears.
4. Rooboy vs Jason Jae Over ‘Crazy’ Remark
Rooboy, known for his lively yet sensitive nature, didn’t take kindly to Jason Jae jokingly calling him crazy.
“You call me your guy, you tell me say I dey craze,” Rooboy said sharply.
Jason quickly apologised after sensing he had crossed a line.
5. Mide’s Expressions and Fake Nominations
Mide stirred reactions on Day 1 with her facial expressions and perceived snobbery. She also confused Biggie during nominations by naming “Menanze” and “Deziani” — neither of whom are housemates.
Biggie replied, “Are these housemates?” in his signature dry tone.
Later, Ebuka revealed the nominations were fake and no eviction would happen, a twist to be unveiled on Sunday.
6. “Na Your Papa Get Lagos?” – Koyin vs Kaybobo
A food-related spat erupted between Kaybobo and Koyin, ending with Kaybobo’s sharp retort:
“Na your papa get Lagos?” after Koyin requested more noodles.
Despite the jab, Koyin did not nominate Kaybobo later, surprising many.
7. Jason Jae Becomes Official HoH
After serving as interim Head of House, Jason Jae clinched the official title on Monday by defeating Rooboy, Sultana, Dede, Kuture, and Bright Morgan in the HoH challenge.
8. Rooboy Slams Food Hoarding
Rooboy used his diary session to call out housemates for hoarding food and wasting resources, particularly water.
9. Chicken Drama: Kenari vs Otega
A dispute over grilled chicken flared between Kenari and Otega. Kenari shouted:
“You dey claim chef, you dey in charge of grill,” accusing Otega of being greedy.
Victory and Thelma had to step in to calm the situation before it escalated.
10. Mesan’s Emotional Diary Room Breakdown
One of the week’s most touching moments came when Mesan broke down in tears, sharing his struggle to support his mother and siblings.
He asked Biggie, “Am I on live TV?” and “Am I being recorded?”
His vulnerability resonated with many viewers.
11. Imisi vs Rooboy and Koyin: Pot Argument Escalates
A clash over a dirty pot saw Imisi in a fiery face-off with Rooboy and Koyin. She switched between phonetic English and street slang, even waving a fork while defending herself.
Koyin reacted strongly when she threatened to stab him, though they reconciled afterward.
12. Wager Task Flop
Friday’s wager task, themed around an unmasking ball, didn’t impress Biggie. Despite the theatrics, the housemates failed — a setback that will affect their weekly welfare.
13. Vibes, Strategy, and the Upcoming Party
Amid the chaos, housemates still found time for fun. Koyin led the midweek dance session, offering viewers a glimpse of his lively side. But beneath the groove, strategies are already in motion.
With the Saturday night party approaching, expectations are high for more drama, bonding, and possibly, new tensions.
BBNaija Season 10 is off to a fiery start, and the competition is clearly heating up. For these housemates, staying relevant isn’t optional — it’s survival.
